Global Justice Now
Global Justice Now, formerly known as the World Development Movement, is a membership organisation based in the United Kingdom which campaigns on issues of global justice and development in the Global South. The organisation produces research on topics on the developing world and free trade.
Chinacake Productions was commissioned by Global Justice Now to produce a series of short films exploring the ‘freedom of seeds’. Dozens of organisations around the world have joined together to call for an end to the G7’s New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition. The New Alliance provides aid money from rich countries like the UK to help big business invest in African agriculture. Instead of supporting small-scale farmers, the scheme benefits multinational companies. The small-scale farmers’ right to store and share seeds, in countries like Ghana, is under threat.
